IN BRUGES

One of the things I love about Cologne - besides the things you can actually do in Cologne - is where it's situated: within only a couple of hours you can easily reach the most beautiful cities like Amsterdam, Antwerp or Brussels by car. Even Paris is only a four-hour train ride away. Last week we decided to pay Bruges a visit and take a day trip for my boyfriend's birthday. Basically we just strolled around the beautiful streets, alleys and bridges and walked along the the canals all day. A few pit stops were made: besides a delicious birthday-lunch at the "Quatre Mains" we had Belgian beer in one of the many bars around the main square, bought chocolates from a local chocolatier and stopped for typical Belgian french fries - tourists par excellence!
I was wearing a layered look featuring my new VILA dress, a jean shirt plus cardigan and coat for the less sunny spots and I combined it with my favorite mustard scarf and the most comfortable boots - perfect for a city trip with lots of walking.

Eines der vielen Dinge, die ich so an Köln mag - außer denen, die man tatsächlich in Köln machen kann - ist die Lage: Man erreicht die schönsten Städte wie Amsterdam, Brüssel oder Antwerpen in nur wenigen Stunden Autofahrt. Sogar Paris ist nur vier Zugstunden entfernt. Letzte Woche beschlossen wir, anlässlich des Geburtstages meines Freundes Brügge einen Besuch abzustatten. Wir sind stundenlang durch die wunderschönen Straßen und Gassen spaziert und gemütlich die Kanäle entlang flaniert. Zwischenstopps: Neben einem Geburtstags-Essen im "Quatre Main" haben wir Belgisches Bier auf dem Marktplatz getrunken, Pralinen beim chocolatier erstanden und typisch belgische Pommes-frites verdrückt - Touristen par excellence also!
Gekleidet war ich im Zwiebel-Look samt neuem VILA Kleid, Jeanshemd plus Cardigan und Mantel für die schattigeren Plätzchen, senfgelbem Lieblingsschal und bequemen Stiefeln - perfekt für einen Städtetrip inklusive viel Fußmarsch.

Da bin ich. Ich lebe noch. Ich war in letzter Zeit recht selten hier vertreten, ich weiß. Danke an Sabrina, die in den letzten Wochen gepostet hat, während ich krank war und fleißig an meiner Bachelorarbeit schreibe. Das Bild hat Christian von The Styleograph letzte Woche von mir gemacht. ARTE - FASHION IN THE CITY

In connection with arte fashion week (for those who don't know it: It's a German/French TV station) there is a foto competition and the winners get cool gifts. If you voted for me real quick, you'd make me very happy!

Im Zusammenhang der arte Fashion Week gibt es auch einen Fotowettbewerb, bei dem man für die schönsten Styles voten kann. Wenn ihr da für mein Foto kurz abstimmen würdet wär das sehr lieb!

DIY: MILLEFLEURS TOTE BAG

Here comes another diy-post! This time I designed a - yes, very girly - tote bag. Now, you can decorate your bag any way you want, this is a post for inspiration with general instructions. Of course you can think of a different word or phrase to have printed on your bag (printing costs are about 5 Euro; I do that at the copy-shop around the corner from my apartment, they actually already know me there) and you can use various materials for decoration.



Before you start: put a sheet of paper in the bag. That way you avoid the two sides of it to be glued together.



Think of a pattern that you would like to decorate your bag with. Use bows, buttons, or anything else that comes to mind - I decided to use beads and little textile flowers. Arrange them the way they're supposed to stay on your bag and then glue them to it one by one.



Let the glue dry. In order for the decoration to better stay on I sewed the flowers and the beads to the bag in addition to just using glue. It's a lot of work but your bag's ornaments will survive anything now - even crowded subways. I already tried that.

Hier kommt ein weiterer DIY-Post! Diesmal habe ich einen - ja, sehr mädchenhaften - Beutel entworfen. Der Post soll vor allem zur Inspiration dienen. Ihr könnt eure Beutel natürlich mit anderen Wörtern oder Ausdrücken bedrucken lassen (kostet um die 5 Euro; ich mache das im Copy-Shop um die Ecke, man kennt mich dort bereits) und ihn mit allem dekorieren, was euch gefällt - und was hält. Seien es Knöpfe, Schleifen oder etwas völlig anderes. Ich habe mich für pastellfarbene Perlen und Stoffblumen entschieden. Wichtig ist, dass ihr zuallererst ein Blatt Papier in den Beutel legt, damit er nicht zusammenklebt. Dann überlegt euch ein Muster, ordnet die Materialien auf dem Beutel an und klebt sie schließlich nach und nach fest. Für besseren Halt habe ich alles zusätzlich festgenäht. Dauert lange, ist den Aufwand aber wert. Der Beutel übersteht alles - auch Fahrten in überfüllten Straßenbahnen. Habe ich bereits getestet.
