LAYERING MUSTARD

With no one around to take my picture, I decided to recreate an outfit I wore last weekend and snap it – without me in it.
Here come the layers:

A sheer, mustard-colored, sleeveless Topshop shirt underneath..

..an H&M cropped patterned sweater..

..combined with Rules by Mary pants.

To leave the house I threw on my (very old!) Forever XXI jacket and topped it off with a Vintage brooch..

..and an H&M fake fur collar. Other accessories included..

my beloved Steve Maddens..

..as well as my faithful companion, the Brahmin bag.
Layering completed. Pin It Now!

Another awesome hair tutorial from Refinery 29 I bookmarked a couple of weeks ago and finally tried myself. Conclusion: totally doable in under a minute! Really! Pin It Now!

CLÉMENCE

Glamour UK February 2012 via Studded Hearts

I have to admit, I've got serious girl crushes on (certain) French actresses: Clémence Poésy, Mélanie Laurent, Audrey Tautou, Emmanuelle Béart.. Couldn't you fall in love just hearing their melodious names? Anywho, let's not get carried away. I was just reminded of Clémence's effortless elegance by this wonderful spread from UK Glamour's February issue and wanted to share it with you. Sigh!

7 THINGS I LOVE RIGHT NOW

    1. fashionable tea bags.

These adorable tea bags were a gift from my dear friend Lisa. Today I had tea with Karl and Claudia..who's it gonna be tomorrow? Naomi, Jean Paul, Donatella...? I keep good company.

    2. photographs by jen gotch.

Just some wonderfully dreamy photographs. You can buy prints on Jen Gotch's homepage.

    3. moonrise kingdom.

I abslolutely cannot wait for Wes Anderson's new film to be released in May! Judging by the trailer, this appears to be yet another beautifully weird and quirky movie. Who didn't love 'The Royal Tenenbaums' or 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'??

    4. currant loaf with goat cheese and pear and mustard chutney.

This little treat has become part of my breakfast (or, you know, brunch, dinner, midnight snack..) routine ever since my mom brought back this delicious pear and mustard chutney from Italy when she visited me in London some time ago. Unfortunately, I can already see the bottom of the chutney jar so unless I find an adequate replacement, the feasting will come to an abrupt halt very, very soon..

    5. white dresses.

I know the season for white, light, airy dresses has not quite yet arrived (and I most definitely do NOT have the approriate complexion to wear anything in the light-coloured area at the moment) but I still very much gravitate towards these Luphia, Topshop and Chloé dresses.

    6. my old polaroid.

I found my ancient polaroid camera while going through all kinds of stuff in my old room over Christmas break and I just HAD to bring it back to life! So I started taking pictures of all my favourite people (after being surprised that it actually still worked, having lain under piles of junk and being covered with dust for what I assume must have been well over a decade) and brought them back to London to decorate my refrigerator door. Makes me smile every time I go for a glass of milk first thing in the morning.

    7. like crazy.

Aaaand..another film! This time one that I actually watched recently about a couple trying to make a long distance relationship work. Wonderfully romantic and teary at the same time. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the movie is not planned to be released in Germany, at least not any time soon. But you should definitely try to see it if you can get ahold of it somehow (ehem, legally of course!) In the meantime, you can watch the trailer here.

REGENT'S CANAL

dress | Monki
tights | Topshop

It is truly fascinating: I have never turned so many heads while casually walking down the street like when wearing these Topshop two-tone tights. People just keep staring at my legs. A lot. Reactions range from interested to bewildered to disapproving glances to a guy actually yelling after me: "Are you wearing half a leggin, love?". And this is fashion-forward London. Imagine me wearing these tights back home in small-town Germany over Christmas break. People might as well have started getting their pitchforks ready to chase me out of town.
So, what do you think? Pretty cool or just totally weird? Let me know.

GREY

coat | Weekday
skirt | American Apparel
blouse | Theory
scarf | via TK Maxx
platform heels | FCUK
bag | Brahmin

I'm reporting back after a medium-long-ish break from blogging in which I had to a) digest a lot of christmas cookies, b) finish an essay and c) recover from both a) and b). Now I have regained my freshness and I'm back with a couple of pictures my sister took of me while I was back home. The coat is a lucky find I landed at my routine Weekday-spree while in Cologne (why there's no Weekday in London I'll never understand..), the Theory blouse was (yet another) awesome Beacon's Closet find from last summer and I think the AA skirt most of you already know. Obviously, I had to slip into my christmas present a.k.a. my new FCUK Juines platform heels at the first opportunity so they couldn't be missing in these pictures. Plus, I think they go extremely well with the grey overknees! So, this is it. First outfit-post in 2012.

I hope you all had a fabulous start to the new year!
