SURPRISED BY MANGO

I am on a self imposed shopping ban since about 2 months, simply because my luggage limit for my flight home is constantly on my mind. But hey, nobody said anything about shopping online... So I just shop online and when I come back home all these pretty things will be waiting for me!

After going through all my favourite online shops the other day, I thought I'd pay Mango a visit. I didn't really expect to be tempted to buy anything here, as I rarely shop there. But just like Zara back in March, this Spanish retailer really surprised me with their summer collection.

I would style the pieces differently, but they do have potential in my opinion. The pink dress with some ballet flats and a sixties hairdo...

Also I was surprised to see the prices, the denim shirt and the dress are 40€. I always remembered Mango to be a bit more expensive than that. Has anyone else noticed or have I just gotten so used to the Australian price level that anything European seems super cheap to me?

I know, this styling is not exactly suitable for everyday wear, but don't these high-waisted bikinis just look amazing in combination with hip-length jackets? Possibly something to try out at the beach this summer..

BURNT ORANGE

As you can see I still love orange and added a new piece to my collection. I was super happy when I realized how well my new corduroy skirt matched one of my favourite sweaters. Also I was very happy it's not as cold as when we first took pictures of this sweater :)

Two more weeks in Australia before I return to good old Europe! I cannot believe how time is just flying by. Until then I will get up at four in the morning to watch Soccer, what a freak.

ELLE

Last Monday I took a friend visiting from Germany on the obligatory Oxford Street Topshop excursion and while she plowed her way through the three levels of women's apparel madness, running to and from the fitting rooms, I sat comfortably in one of the sofas of the shoe department, playing Angry Birds for almost two hours straight. At some point I got frustrated (damn you, unbeatable high score!) so I looked up from my cell phone and there she was: Elle Fanning, trying on shoes, looking effortlessly cool in a pair of high-waisted light blue 90s style jeans and a grey crop top. Apparently, I was the only one noticing her – whether this was because of her casualness or the fact that everyone was too caught up in the Topshop shopping frenzy I don't know. Anyways, seeing her inspired me to do this little post. As you might remember, I already posted a couple of photos of her shot by Venetia Scott for Self Service magazine some time ago, which was when the girl crush intensified (it began when I first watched Sofia Coppola's Somewhere). Now I think I'm head over heels in love.
