GETTING READY FOR FALL: SWEATER OVER DRESS

Paulina and I have both sported the ‘sweater-over-dress’ look several times before (see here or here) and with fall season swiftly approaching I'm already looking forward to trying out new combinations. In my head I've started to pair up chunky knit sweaters with delicate spring dresses (ideally collared ones so that you can have the collar peeking out). Hope the inspiration outfits I posted above got you excited about the sweater/dress combo as well!

MIDI SKIRT

Clinique eye shadow duo |101 sunburst

shoes | can‘t remember...
necklace | Handmade
bag | Vintage

Since the midi skirt trend appeared on the fashion horizon a couple of years ago, I wanted one. But just like the maxi skirt, the midi skirt seemed like a big mistake for a girl of my height. But by now we know I have conquered the maxi skirt, so why not try the midi trend again?

I found this skirt at Uniqlo, (I fell in love with this store in London, I hope it‘s coming to Germany soon!) and because it was on sale I only tried it on quickly and didn‘t even realize I had just bought a midi skirt. Only when I came home, I understood my little fashion miracle ;)
To me the trick is, same as with the maxi, that for a short girl the skirt should be slim but not too slim and end at the knees. Worn at the waist, it adds extra length to the legs.
Definitely not my last midi!

KIDS SECTION

Lately I have found myself shopping in the kids section a lot. For those of us who are vertically challenged it is such a great option to save money when buying high street fashion. The Spanish are especially great at it (because they design kids' clothes that are not very kid-like in my opinion), so I decided to collect my favourite pieces from Zara and Massimo Dutti.
I hope the tall girls forgive me that today for once, fashion is for the short ones only.

Oxford Shirt, Zara, 14,95€. This one is already mine.
Angora Sweater, Massimo Dutti, 49,95€. I would really like this one, can a blonde pull off that shade of yellow?
Dufflecoat, Zara Boys, 49,95€. I am a big Paddington Bear fan, I guess that explains...
Loafers, Massimo Dutti, 69,95. Careful, they're actually blue and green.
Backpack, Zara Boys, 25,95€.
Ballet flats, Zara Girls, 35,95€.

The shoes are available up to size 38 and for the clothes, I usually buy the biggest size, which gives a bit of extra space, so no one suspects where I bought them :)

“Children find everything in nothing, men nothing in everything.”
– Giacomo Leopardi, Zibaldone

The Marche region really has a lot to offer culturally and historically, so whenever I fly down to my grandmother's house I always try to explore new places. This time, it was Recanati's turn. My sister, my boyfriend and I took the car and drove further inland and up the hills until we reached the town walls of picturesque, little Recanati, hometown of Romantic poet, essayist and philologist Giacomo Leopardi. We explored the shady, cobblestoned alleys, visited the old library in the Leopardi family's palace where Giacomo himself used to study and write, went to the Leopardi museum (we were in the “city of poetry”, after all!), strolled through the park on Tabor hill (the famous hill of the Infinite) and enjoyed the breathtaking panoramic view. Should you ever happen to be in the area, I definitely recommend paying a visit to Recanati!

TRIP TO ANCONA

bag | Monki

After several extensive sunbathing sessions during the first couple of days of our vacation, my Mum, my sister and I decided to skip going to the beach on a beautiful and very, very, very hot Saturday morning and go to the nearby city of Ancona (capital of the Marche region) instead. We strolled around the gorgeous old piazzas and quaint, narrow alleyways (always in the shade of course, to avoid a heat stroke), went shopping for fruit and cheese at the local food market and had lunch in the form of stuffed piadine with grilled zucchini, eggplant and mozzarella and drank iced mint milk at our favourite bar. Good times!
Have a wonderful Sunday night, everyone!

P.s.: Thanks to my baby sister for taking the pictures of me and risking the aforementioned heat stroke.

FIRST DAY AT THE BEACH

After mastering the 15-minute descent through the woods and down to the little rocky bay of Sirolo, my sister, my boyfriend and I spent our first day at the beach swimming in the clear, turquoise water, having lunch at the little bistro on the beach and lying under the parasol alternately reading and dozing off..Take me back there, please?
